Who am I?
My name is Deivis Armando Diaz Suarez, I am 35 years old and was born in Riohacha, La Guajira.
I am a dedicated and
experienced English teacher with over 10 years of experience in the field.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of helping numerous students
enhance their English language skills, preparing them for a future where
English is increasingly becoming a global language.
My teaching philosophy is
rooted in providing students with practical knowledge and skills that they can
apply in real-world situations. I believe in creating an interactive and
engaging learning environment that encourages students to participate actively
in their learning process.
Currently, I am
pursuing a master’s degree in English Pedagogical Mediation. This advanced
study not only aims to deepen my understanding of teaching methodologies and
strategies, enabling me to offer my students more effective and innovative
learning experiences, but it also opens up a world of new opportunities and
challenges for me.
With this degree, I will be able to explore
higher-level positions in the educational field, such as curriculum
development, educational consulting, or even administrative roles. The knowledge
and skills I am gaining will make me a strong candidate for these positions,
allowing me to make a broader impact on English language education.
In 2018,
I initiated an after-school English club that allowed students to practice and
improve their English skills outside the classroom. This club was well-received
by both students and parents, leading to a noticeable improvement in the
students’ confidence and proficiency in English.
Since I started
working at UNAD last year, I have implemented the same idea of an English club
for students, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills through
conversational methodologies and the use of information and communication
technologies.
As a passionate
teacher, I am constantly seeking new ways to engage my students and inspire
them to learn. I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge,
but about fostering curiosity and a love of learning that will stay with my
students for a lifetime. I am always looking for innovative teaching methods
and creative approaches to make my lessons more interesting and effective.
Seeing my students light up with excitement when they learn something new is
what drives me to be the best teacher I can be.
After completing my
bachelor's degree in English as a foreign language, I continued my studies by
taking two virtual courses with the University of Dayton: "English for the
Classroom" and "Teaching Teenagers." These courses helped me to
develop a deeper understanding of how to effectively teach English as a foreign
language to students of all ages, particularly teenagers.
Through "English
for the Classroom," I honed my skills in lesson planning and curriculum
development, learning how to create engaging and effective lessons that cater
to the diverse needs of my students. I also gained valuable insights into
classroom management techniques, which have helped me to maintain a positive
and productive learning environment.
In "Teaching
Teenagers," I learned how to connect with this unique age group and how to
adapt my teaching methods to suit their needs and interests. I developed
strategies for motivating and engaging teenagers in the classroom, such as
incorporating technology and multimedia into my lessons.
